Seyi Shay was born as Oluwaseyi Odedere on December 21, 1985 in Tottenham, London, United Kingdom. The earliest songs she released dates back to 2011 and includes the singles “No Lele” and “Loving Your Way.” She released “Irawo” and the song’s remixed version featuring Vector in the following year. The year 2013 saw the release of several singles including “Chante,” featuring Ajuju, “Chairman” featuring Kcee, and “Killin’ Me Softly” featuring Timaya. She received the Best New Musician Award from City People Entertainment Awards in the same year. In 2015, she released the album Seyi or Shay which includes the tracks “Right Now” and “Crazy” featuring WizKid. Her latest single “Ko Ma Roll” was released in 2018 and featured Harmonize. Aside from releasing her music, she has also been a featured artist on Praiz’s “For You,” Ayoola’s “Sugar,” and NC Dread’s “Celebrate.”
