Shameik Moore was born on May 4, 1995 in Atlanta Georgia. His enthusiasm for dance and music was evident at his early age and was often enrolled in dance classes. This led to him appearing in several Hip Hop music videos such as Soulja Boy’s Crank That (2007) and Turning Me On (2009) by Keri Hilson.
After bit parts in TV shows Read Between the Lines (2011) and House of Payne (2011), he made his break through in TV after being cast in Nick Cannon’s live action sketch comedy series called Incredible Crew on Cartoon Network in 2013. He gained further fame after his critically acclaimed performance for the role of Malcolm in the movie Dope (2015), which premiered at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival in which he was nominated for a Critics’ Choice Movie Award for Best Young Performer. He was also voted as part of IndieWire’s “The 12 Major Breakouts of the 2015 Sundance Film Festival” list. He also collaborated with iconic producer Pharell Williams for the movie’s soundtrack.
This success led to him being cast as one of the leads on the Netflix series, The Get Down (2016.) Moore is also a talented rapper and released a mixtape that debuted in 2012 to over 100,000 downloads.
