Sifan Hassan is a long-distance runner born on 1st January 1993 in Ethiopia. However, she represents the Netherlands. At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, she won gold in 5,000 meters and 10,000 meters. She also won a bronze medal in 1,500 meters. She’s the only athlete to win medals in short- and long-distance races in the Olympic Games. She also won the 1,500m and 10,000m at the 2019 World Athletics Championships. Again, she became the first athlete to win both races at World Championships.
She won bronze at 1500m and 5000m in 2015 and 2017, respectively. Sifan has also won the World Indoor Championships three times. She also won six European medals and one European Indoor medal. In 2019, she won the 1500 m and 5000m double. In 2021, she held the 10,000m world record, but only for two days.
