William James Stokes was born on July 2, 1987 in Chicago, Illinois. He is also referred to as his popular stage name, Sir the Baptist. He is an American hip-hop and R&B recording artist, producer, songwriter, and philanthropist. He signed to the well-known Atlantic Records. He says that his music comes from the influence that jazz musicians such as Louis Armstrong and Nat King Cole have given him.
In 2016, he was nominated at the BET Hip Hop Awards for Impact Track of the Year with “Raise Hell”. Also in 2016, he performed at the various festivals including the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, Sasquatch! Music Festival, Life is Beautiful Festival, Shaky Beats Music Festival and many more.
