Sokratis Papastathopoulos, known as Sokratis, is a Greek professional footballer that plays as a center-back who was born on June 9, 1988, in Kalamata. He began his career at the AEK Athens club and debuted on October 26, 2005, when he played a match against PAS Giannina for a Greek Cup. Three years later he transferred to Genoa, a team that competes in the Italian Serie A. In 2010, he transferred to A.C. Milan, and in 2011, he transferred to the German Werder Bremen on a loan. His performance was impressive, which led to him transferring to the club. However, the 2012-2013 season was not a good one for the club. In 2013, he transferred to the German team Dortmund and signed a contract for five years. When his contract finished, he joined the Arsenal Football Club, from England. However, in 2021 the team announced the contract cancellation, which led Sokratis to join the Greek team Olympiacos, signing a contract for two years.
