T.J. Hockenson, born Thomas James Hockenson, is an accomplished American professional football player, renowned for his prowess as a tight end in the National Football League (NFL). He was born in Des Moines, Iowa, United States, on July 3, 1997.
Hockenson hails from Chariton, Iowa, where he first honed his skills at Chariton High School. His exceptional talent and dedication led him to the University of Iowa, where he continued to impress on the football field. During his college career, Hockenson achieved notable milestones, including being named the 2018 First-team All-Big Ten, recipient of the 2018 Ozzie Newsome Award, and winner of the 2018 John Mackey Award.
In 2019, Hockenson transitioned to the professional level after being selected by the Detroit Lions in the first round of the NFL Draft.
