The Field is the stage name of Axel Willner, a Swedish DJ and electronic music producer. Willner is based in Stockholm, where he was born. He first approached the electronic music scene during the 1990s, heavily influenced by drone music. Alongside Ola Keijer, a.k.a. Ola K, he began performing as SpeedWax. By 2000, Willner launched his own label, Garmonbozia, and he started collaborating with relevant artists in the Swedish electronic music scene such as Andreas Tilliander, Action Byker and Johan Skön. He started releasing music as The Field around 2005, experimenting with shoegaze sounds and IDM. His debut original single was “Annie”, soon followed by “Sun & Ice”. In 2007, he released the album “From Here We Go To Sublime”, which got very positive reviews and placed him on the international scene. He began to be an in-demand remixer and he worked for the likes of Thom Yorke, Gui Boratto and many others. He has toured all over the world and performed at major venues like Pitchfork Music Festival and All Tomorrow’s Parties.
