Coming from Sunderland, England, The Futureheads is a post-punk revival, indie rock band. They are considered to be among UK’s “angular” movement together with Bloc Party and Franz Ferdinand. Originally a trio, Barry Hyde, Jaff, and Pete Brewis envisioned to help street kids get off the streets by having them learn music. The project was called “Sunderland city Detached Youth Project.”
Their debut single was released in 2002, then two more, “123 Nul” and “First Day” followed in 2003. They were signed under Fantastic Plastic label. Then when they released their self-titled album in 2004, they were under 679 label. In 2005, they went on tour together with Foo Fighters, Oasis, and Pixies. In 2008, the Futureheads released “This is Not the World” under Nul Records.
