The Orb Bio

The Orb is a British electronic music band originally from London. The band was originally founded by Alex Paterson and Jimmy Cauty in 1988, but since then only Paterson has been a regular member, having collaborated with more than 10 musicians. The band began as dub DJs performing in the local London scene. Their performances included psychedelic sounds and visuals. The first release of The Orb was an acid house song titled “Tripping on Sunshine” and it appeared on Martin Youth’s compilation album “Eternity Project One”. In 1989, the band released their first EP titled “Kiss EP” on the record label WAU! Mr. Modo Records. They played at several London nightclubs like Heaven. Their musical production started including chill and ambient sounds. In 1989 they recorded the song “Loving You” in a session for John Peel on BBC Radio1. The Orb collaborated with David Gilmour, the guitarist of Pink Floyd on the album “Metallic Spheres” in 2010. They have played in numerous festivals all around the world.
