Thuso Nokwanda Mbedu is a South African actor who was born on July 8, 1991. Mbedu made her film debut in The Woman King, a historical epic film inspired by true events that occurred in The Kingdom of Dahomey, one of Africa's most powerful states in the 18th and 19th centuries, opposite Viola Davis in April 2021. Gina Prince-Bythewood directed the film, which is based on a script written by Fatherhood co-writer Dana Stevens. She received an International Emmy nomination for her role in the telenovela Is'Thunzi. She was also named to the Forbes Africa 30 under 30 list in 2018 and appeared in the Amazon Video limited series The Underground Railroad in 2021.
