Anthony Dominick Benedetto, known as Tony Bennett, is an American singer of jazz standards and renditions of popular music, with a career spanning over sixty-five years. In 1951, Bennett released his first single, ‘Because of You,’ which paved the way for more than seventy future albums and countless collaborations which earned him nineteen Grammy Awards, a Lifetime Achievement Award, and two Emmy Awards. Bennett has written four books about his musical career and philosophies, including an autobiography. Most recently, he collaborated with pop star, Lady Gaga, for an album of jazz standards entitled, Cheek to Cheek (2014), which won a Grammy Award for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album.
