Tricky Bio

Adrian Nicholas Matthews Thaws, better known by his stage name Tricky, is an English rapper, producer, and musician who is considered to be the creator of the hip-hop sub-genre trip-hop. He was born in Bristol, England, on January 27, 1968. Tricky began his music career in the mid-1980s when he would record music with DJ Milo and The Wild Bunch, and he continued to build a following in the British rap scene through association with the hip-hop acts Fresh 4 and Massive Attack. Tricky officially began his solo career in 1995 with the release of his debut studio project Maxinquaye. Throughout the decades since, Tricky has become one of the most recognizable figures of UK rap, performing at numerous music events including Bazant Pohoda Festival, Treasure Island Music Festival, Melt! Festival, Free Form Festival, Playground Weekender, and Berlin Festival. His discography includes the hit singles Hell Is Round The Corner, Aftermath, Overcome, Black Steel, The Only Way, Nothing Matters, and the albums Knowle West Boy, Angels with Dirty Faces, and Lonely Guest. Tricky’s music was featured in the album Trip-Hop Classics alongside fellow rappers David Holmes, Lamb, DJ Shadow, Attica Blues, and Everything But The Girl.
