Vashtie Kola Bio

Vashtie Kola is a film and music director born on 23rd April 1981 in Albany, New York, United States. She joined Box Fresh Pictures in 2005 as a director. Most of her earlier videos were done with the company. She also wrote music video treatments for leading directors like Lenny Bass, Anthony Mandler, and Dr. Teeth. In 2006, she became the director of creative services at Island Def Jam. The same year, she started a monthly ‘90s party called 1992 in collaboration with her friend Oscar.

She later started her own clothing line called Violette. In 2009, she ranked number 23 in Vibe’s list of 31 Most Stylish People Under 31. She has directed a wide range of videos. These include Beans’ “Papercut” in 2005, “Tony Hussle’s “Come Again” in 2005, Child Revel Soldier’s “Us Placers” in 2007, Justine Bieber’s “One Time” in 2009, “Jadakiss’ “Letter to B.I.G” in 2009, Kendrick Lamar’s “A.D.H.D” in 2011, and many others.
