Wintersleep is a Canadian indie rock band formed in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 2001. The current members of the band are Paul Murphy on vocals and guitar, Loel Campbell on drums and guitar, Jon Samuel on the keyboards, guitar and backing vocals, Chris Bell on bass guitar and backing vocals, and Tim D’Eon on guitar and keyboards. In 2003 they released their debut album titled Wintersleep and continued releasing albums, including Untitled in 2005, Welcome to the Night Sky in 2007, New Inheritors in 2010, Hello Hum in 2012, The Great Detachment in 2016, and In the Land of in 2019. In 2008 they won a Juno Award for New Group of the Year and a Much Music Video Award for the music video for their single “Weighty Ghost”. Throughout the bands lifetime they have released albums under the labels Labwork, Dependent, Hand Drawn Dracula, and Dine Alone. In 2009 they were selected to be one of the opening acts for Paul McCartney.
