Terry Gilliam Bio

Terrence Vance Gilliam, better known as Terry Gilliam, is an American-English director, producer, screenwriter, animator, comedian, and actor best known for his work in film. He was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States, on November 22, 1940. Terry became famous in 1969 when he formed the comedy troupe Monty Python with John Cleese, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, and Michael Palin. He began working in film and television in the late 1980s when he began writing for the TV series Do Not Adjust Your Set, and Broaden Your Mind. He has since had a very successful career as a screenwriter, director, and producer, with a filmography that includes 12 Monkeys, The Brothers Grimm, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, and The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. Terry won an Empire Award for Best Director.
