Alex Winter Bio

Alexander Ross Winter is an English-born American actor, director, producer, and filmmaker, best known for his portrayal of the character Bill S. Preston in the Bill & Ted movie series. He was born in London, England, on July 17, 1965. Alex began acting in his youth when he appeared in the theatrical productions The King and I, Peter Pan, and Close of Play.  After he graduated from New York University Film School, he appeared in the films Death Wish 3, Haunted Summer, and The Lost Boys. He rose to fame in 1989 when he joined the cast of the hit movie Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure alongside Keanu Reeves, George Carlin, Ed Solomon, and Amy Stoch, and he reprised the role in the sequels Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey and Bill & Ted Face the Music. He has lent his voice to the animated series Saul of the Mole Men, Robot Chicken, and Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventures. Alex transitioned to a director and producer, and he has since contributed in those capacities to the documentaries Trust Machine: The Story of Blockchain, Green Blood, and The Panama Papers. He won the Audience Jury Award at the Fantasporto Awards.
