Dee Wallace Bio

Dee Wallace is an American actress born December 14, 1948, in Kansas City, Kansas, USA. In her early life, she taught high-school drama at Washington High School after obtaining a college degree at the University of Kansas. After that, she moved to study drama in Greenwich Village, New York. Her first appearance was in episodes of the crime TV series The Streets of San Francisco (1975), where she appeared alongside movie star Michael Douglas. Wallace's career blossomed in the 1980s as she first played the leading role in the horror movie The Howling (1981) based on a novel by Gary Brandner. She later starred in one of the most popular movies of all time E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982) directed by Steven Spielberg where she played the role of a mother of Gertie, Elliott, and Michael named Mary. She was nominated for Saturn Award for her performance in that movie. After that, in 1983 she starred in another horror movie, based on a novel written by Stephen King called Cujo. After a successful career in the 80s and 90s, she guest-starred in many famous TV series such as Grey's Anatomy, The Office, The Twilight Zone.
