DJ Xclusive is the stage name used by composer, DJ and electronic music producer Rotimi Alakija, who was born in the United Kingdom to Nigerian parents. Alakija started his career as a DJ while he was still studying Physics and Computer Science in college. In 2003, he had a major breakthrough as his fan base kept increasing. He began to perform at major clubs including Penthouse, Jalouse, Funky Buddha or Aura Mayfair and he also started collaborating with top artists such as Rihanna, Fat Joe, Mario Winans, Ne-Yo or Brock and Lance. At the Nigerian Entertainment Awards in 2010, DJ Xclusive won the World Best DJ award and the following year he became a resident DJ for the radio station CoolFM 96.9. In 2012, he released a compilation album through Empire Mates Entertainment, a Nigerian record company, and in 2015 he released another album called “According to X”, which was a huge success.
