Patricia Louise Holte (May 24, 1944), better known as Patti LaBelle, is an American singer-songwriter. She began her music career as a vocalist in the 1960’s and is popularly known for Patti LaBelle and Bluebelles, later changed to Labelle, known for their hit singles, ‘Lady Marmalade’ and ‘Talk About Love’. Patti began her solo career in 1977 and released her self titled solo album in the same year under record label Epic. She released three more albums with Epic titled ‘Tasty’ and ‘It’s Alright With Me’ and ‘Released’. During her time with Epic, she produced her biggest hits such as ‘Joy to Have Your Love’, ‘I Don’t Go Shopping’ and ‘Music Is My Way Of Life’ which were all included in the Top 40 R&B Singles chart. Now at age 78, LaBelle has produced 19 albums throughout her career and has received 11 Grammy nominations and has won 3 of them. LaBelle has also been nominated for 2 Emmy awards and has won 7 NAACP Image Awards. LaBelle has also been involved in Broadway shows such as Fela and After Midnight, alongside many TV and Film appearances such as American Horror Story, Empire and The Voice amongst many others.
